Look Here! |
hey.
it's supposed to be my first blog entry on the class blog but sadly, it probably wont be a pretty one. i know i'm not the class CT rep or councillor or any one that might seem more appropriate to raise this topic. but as a concerned classmate, i hope that we can put more attention and focus to my following point.
well, apparently, there seems to be a rather terrible problem with our class spirit. we all SEEM to know it but it doesnt look like it's going to get better anytime soon. however, if we want to improve as a class, i guess there is a need for us to be honest in order to solve the problem.
personally, i think the class isnt bonded. i'm not saying that it's anyone's fault but at the same time, anyone could have made a difference to the whole situation. every effort counts. this line sounds so cliche but i REALLY mean it.
when i talk about class spirit, i'm talking about the willingness of each and every member of the class in supporting and participating in events such as class outings, class discussions and even going down to watch our classmates' performances and competitions.
some of us might think that bcos the whole class does not take the same subject combination, it is natural that we do not really bond and become as close as other classes that only take one subject combination. half the class takes CLL and the other half takes Physics. so we might therefore lose time that might have been spent more constructively for class bonding. frankly, i doubt that would be a good excuse for us. what we really need is quality time, not quantity.
of course, our class isnt THAT bad afterall. at least we know everyone in our class, we wont have to walk down the corridor and not even realise that the person who just walked past you is actually your classmate. but is that sufficient? how many of us actually went out to know MORE about another classmate's character and thoughts?
haha. and maybe we can also attempt to talk more often to one another, especially to those that we dont often chat with. and when i say "talk", i hope the topic wont ALWAYS and ONLY revolve around HOMEWORK. doink. -.- life is beautiful and it is definitely not just made up of academic results.
is this how we are going to spend our next one and a half year?
if i was given a choice, i dont want it to be like that. it's ugly. it's just like how our school has problems getting a reasonable number of students to go down to toa payoh sports hall to support our own teams in their finals. it's just like how we have problems getting enough people to go down to support our classmates in their arts fest concert. it's just like how there might only be a handful of us who went down to support the band and strings concert.
what do we have to say for ourselves? that we just cant make time for such events? or that there just never seem to be enough time for everything? or do other more "important" things always seem to clash with these less signifcant events? or is it merely us who cldnt be bothered with such silly support that doesnt seem necessaray?
in short, our class spirit is in need of more improvements. HUGE ones.
when we have our performances, we expect people to go down and watch. when we have duties to carry out, we expect our classmates to co-operate. when we have difficult games to play against strong rivals, we expect our classmates to be there and lend us the support. but we tend to forget that we are also expected to return that presence, that co-operation, that support. sometimes, we get too absorbed in our own life that we forget about others too.
and this could only be remedied as a class. you cannot always let the same few people go down to support, and it is WEIRD if only 2-3 people go down to watch only. so what if you dont know how to appreciate the sports/games/event? i dont learn music but i still go down to watch the band concert. am i then supposed to feel out of place? i dont like to cheer, does that mean i can just pon the whole sports meet and go for late breakfast at KAP instead?
so, let's do our best and be united! show people our pride in being a member of class 06S6C! it has to be a class effort!
Our Aim (or at least my aim for the class):
- everyone TRY to go for at least TWO events (sports/performing arts/others) to support the class or the school.
- ATTEMPT to participate in most class outings. (at least be there once or twice lar.)
- put in the BEST effort to at least talk to everyone in the class at least once in TWo weeks. (that's not TOO difficult rite?)
let's try to reach these aims by the end of year 2006 k? :) i believe we can do it.
