upcoming activities for this week!!!
wahaha, peeps u all want to know what i have up my sleeves? hmm, which sleeve, got only two long sleeves, so not much tricks. one sleeve, one trick. haha!

ok first trick.

after thursday, come over to my house!!! haha, this seems to apply for physics ppl, sorry rest of the class, coz we end our blocks already. but nvm, u all can join us for the second trick! ok, back to the first trick. disclaimer: i am not giving any treats, just introducing all of u to delicacies that will sure rawk ur balls. oopz, expression only, not to be taken literally. ok, in any case, the food is real nice, and it is in a coffee shop near my house. so perhaps can go for pool before going to my house there for dinner. the course will be bbq fish, and hmmm, its very nice. so in this case, please bring along ur own casual change of clothes to don right after the blocks! ok, anyway, can bring camera to take photos if we going to play pool. expected to end at such a time that u all can make it home in time to watch world cup, which is like 10. so there is no problem.

ok, second trick.

this friday, which is 30 june, luyang is treating us to partyworld! woohoo, all hail our wonderful mr lu! yay, we can sing for very long, and ya, going to call partyworld to ask about details. ok, so hmm, which branch we going to, someone please suggest. so the physics gang will be singing first, as early as we can, haha, but since the time that the coupon allows us to sing is like neverending, it means, the rest of the class has the luxury of me warming the room for u! mwahaha! ya, u all better rush to whatever branch that we are going to decide on, as fast as u can! can take taxi also, coz u dun have to pay for ktv! hee2!!!

hmmm, third trick. haha, magic that it came out of nowhere.

ok, this one should be quite good. one of these days, which i dunno when, want to go seoul garden for lunch buffet? in order to fully utilize the money that we have paid for and hmmm, haha, eat all we can. can eat for a very long time, then talk and talk and hmm, try yanyin's famous egg cooked with a sausage fence. haha, really interesting, and really want to see more!!! weee!!!! ya, this one should be during a weekend, or maybe after school? haha, dunno la but see how?

ya, thats all the tricks for these few weeks, including the last trick which is like so waiting to be confirmed. ok, and for the partyworld thing, it is organized on friday coz the coupons end on friday, sorry for the inconvenience caused! yep, JIAYOU!!! TIANCHU!!! whatever, as long as it lubricates a smooth journey towards getting at least a pass!!!

17. You think people are inconsiderate when they don't leave their table immediately after eating at the food court but think you have every right to take your own sweet time with your ice kachang.

30. You've started referring to foreign employees as 'talent' instead of 'expatriates'.
31. You copy down number plates of cars involved in accidents.
32. You think your boyfriend doesn't really love you unless he gives you part of his liver.
32. You pronounce the letter 'R' as 'ah-rer' and the letter 'H' as 'haytch'.
34. You believe that you can generate 'creativity' through rules and committees.
35. You 'chope' a seat by placing a packet of tissues on the chair.
36. You're very forthright with your criticisms of the Gahmen, unless there's a chance they might actually hear you.
37. Your mother probably can't speak your 'mother tongue'.
38. You secretly find that the best part of the Speak Good English Movement is hearing the Singlish bits in their ads.
39. You think we're living in a modern, sophisticated country even when our leaders still insist on wearing white school uniforms.
40. You wish your constituency is in a walkover, otherwise it's damn 'leceh'.
41. During elections, you decide that there is no credible opposition even though you don't know the name of the opposition candidate in your constituency.

Art Supplies
I used to work in an art supply store. We sold artists' canvas by the
yard, and you could get it in either of two widths: 36 inches or 48
inches.

Customer: "Can you please cut some canvas for me?"

Me: "Certainly, what width?"

Customer: (confused and slightly annoyed) "Scissors?"

T_T
My first post and here i am apologising.

It was I who took the extremely valuable gp essays home. but WAIT! before you curse and swear ne'more, allow me to explain.

After our physics lesson in school during the holidays, luyang accompanied our physics teacher to the staff room to get physics answers photocopied. I imagine he saw the gp essays sitting about in our pigeon hole and kindly brought it down to the class bench.

As i was leaving school, I saw the extra physics answers and gp essays left on the class bench! And they were all flying about and you know, in danger of having the dustbin as their next home. So blur me took them home. BUT! I went to school yesterday and placed them in the class pigeon hole.

So sorry for any inconviniences caused.

Thanks to terence for lifting the curse.

yours truly,
lynette

GP Essays
Hi 6C,

Sorry for being so vulgar on the tagboard and in that SMS. But I am upset that someone has taken away our (not just mine, but the whole stack) GP essays without even to have the basic common sense and courtesy to inform us.

(In any case, you should not take away all our GP essays because you are just making things inconvenient for us as we are unable to collect our essays at our desired time.)

I'll be frank. I am seriously UNHAPPY about it and aghast at the stupidity and how inconsiderate some of our classmates can get.

Better tell us where our essays are before I CURSE THAT YOU'LL FAIL EVERY SINGLE SUBJECT FOR YOUR BLOCKS!

Editted to add: Okay, Lynette took the essays home and she put them back into the pigeon hole AFTER i went to check it yesterday. So I guess all our essays are back in the pigoen hole le.. can go take..

Sentosa Outing
It just didn't seem right in the morning. We have enough people, everyone was in the approrpiate attire for a beach outing, but it seemed that we lacked something.

We walked to Sentosa after breakfast at the Seah Im hwaker centre and our efforts saved us one dollar of entrance fee and also saved our arteries from being laden with those fats that we consumed during our breakfast of char kway tiao, mee rebus, puthu mayam (sp?) and a large glass of bandung.

Anyways, it was an uphill task for everyone to get into the mood and to settle down. nice "camping spots" were occupied when we arrived and we spent like 30 minutes deciding where to place our barang-barang. Next, it was deciding our activities. We had our most unenthusiastic frisbee session ever, followed by an unethusiastic game of soccer-ball passing, a game which is more commonly seen being played by people engulfed by boredom. Things got a little better when we decided to play Monkey by kicking the soccer ball around.

Oh yes, the climax was when Jun Quan stripped.

After some time at a nearby playground, which we decided that it was unconstructive to rescue us from boredom, we headed to the nearest bike rental station, which was not THAT near after all. I had my reservations about cycling initially due to my inability to manoeuvre (interesting word isn't it spelt with three consecutive vowels) a bicycle. As the saying goes, "no man is an island". Humans are herd animals thus we always feel comforted when they realise that they are not alone, sad to say, even for the wrong reasons. Hence, you can imagine my utter excitement and relieve when I discover that Lian Joo and Marcus have the same disability as me. Oops.

I struggled through my initial riding. My bicycle skidded into the nearest bush or lamp post and I swerved to avoid colliding with the approaching tram, and expectedly, I had cuts and bruises planted all over my calves, heels and erm, crotch. With the support of Shi Yan who was all the while "observing" me, I didn't disappoint her (if, in the first place, she's expecting somehting from me) as I finally managed to cycle some distance before the next collison or skid.

In short, I can cycle already!

Suppose cycling is a function, then for Terence to cycle, the function has to be one-one, and for the function to be one-one, you must restrict the domain. Hence one restriction for the domain is that there mustn't be anyone within my sight to distract me (therefore my accidents kept happening in the vicinity of hot guys with defined abs in skimpy swimming trunks. (No, I didn't get distracted by any bikini babes for there weren't any present yesterday to start with. All of them has got weird curvatures that's enough to make wonder if I am seeing Martians or what.) Another restriction would be that the cycling path available for me to cycle must be wide enough.

In short I want my path to be as spacious and rural as possible. I hate seeing population (especially dense ones) along my way. Therfore domain can be written as:

Least population < X < Spacious cycling path

(Hey, don't blame me for being such a wet blanket of reminding you guys about academics in the midst of an outing report. After all, it's back to reality after this temporary release from our mugging schedule. )

Anyways, I realised that cycling is an overrated activity. I didn't squealed with excitement or gasped in amazement once I discovered the feeling of cycling. The sense of accomplishment was there without a doubt, but beyond that, I still could not imagine why some people love cycling so much.

I still prefer the good old walking, though it burns less calories.

Sakae Sushi was another highlight of yesterday's programme. What we have learnt from Sakae was that never underestimate the appetite of three demure-looking girls. Shi Yan, Fan Di and Si Min can eat more than Jia Wei, Jun Quan, Shawn, Xin Wei, Audrey and Miss Tan combined.

Either the girls are really really really hungry or they are all pregnant at the same time. The former seems more belivable though.

Oh yah, I nearly forgot, halfway during our boring bech activity, we were approached by this photographer who requested to help take free photos. We weren't exactly responsive but we still agreed to let him take our pictures for us. Apparently we could buy those pictures at the souvenir store at the end of the day should we like the pictures.

The end-result was okay only, considering our low enthusiasm in taking pictures. It boiled down to the price, which ultimately deterred us from purchasing the exorbitant pictures. $12 for one picture? I'd rather have my sushi.

I left soon after dinner. I'll leave the rest to fill in the details for after-dinner plans.

Sentosa
Calling all 6C peeps!!!

Class outing will be at Sentosa this coming thursday, 15 June. All will assemble at the Sentosa shuttle bus slot at the harbourfront interchange. for everyone's info, that slot will be nearest to the mrt station, hence ya... Please be there latest by 9am, and please be EXTREMELY punctual! it is recommended that everyone wears casual, duh...

Please be reminded to finish reading the entire of this post please, just like x-men 3. ok, the itinery, proposed one that is, will be as such. from experience, it will always be good to go early in the morning, since there will be less people. also, since it is the school hols, it is ok for us to be kiasu, coz u dunno who else will be more kiasu than us. ya, i always do that, and hence there are always plenty of courts to choose from on the siloso beach.

ok, morning is planned tentatively for beach volleyball. as such, about 2 courts will be used. if not, one court is fine too, coz can play winner in loser out. for the afternoon, ms tan will be joining the class. before that, please make your way promptly to any eatery to get ur lunch. please don't forget to ask ms tan if she has had her lunch. afternoon will be planned for kayaking if i am not wrong. yes, there is a beach soccer "boundary" and maybe can play frisbee or have a dip in the water. ending time not sure, but with the most boring group that i went with last time, it lasted until 4pm.

remember to bring a camera, and take lots of pictures. remember to buy an acceptable gift for miss tan, and bring a full set of change of clothes and toiletries to shower. dinner after that? up to u...

in summary...

venue: harbour front bus interchange (sentosa shuttle bus slot nearest to harbourfront mrt station)

time: 9am

Casual clothing

ok, now for the responsible thing to do, those who cannot make it, please sms or call the following people: shiyan and terence heng!

for people bringing the stuffs, please do it...

Linguistics
A linguistics professor was lecturing to his class one day. "In
English," he said, "a double negative forms a positive. In some
languages though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a
negative."

"However," he pointed out, "there is no language wherein a double
positive can form a negative."

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah. Right."

Athena Camp
Oh my god!

I never expect myself to be able to complete that darn Team Pyramid Challenge (TPC).

It is a extremely physically and mentally demanding task that takes place on a 8-storey structure that has obstacles like tight-rope walking, rock-climbing, Jacob's Ladder, "Step-of-Faith" installed on it. You have to overcome 11 of such challenge to reach to the top of the structure before you "flying fox" yourself down.

It is really really really challenging.

My first look and my first attempt at the challenge seriously freaked me out. I was someone who had vertigo even when I stand near the window of the lift lobby at National Library at 7th floor. Never would I imagine myself to complete TPC. The sense of accompliment upon the completion of the challenge is priceless. I feel like I can do anything after that.

Fortunately, our TPC was done on a sunny day or its level of difficulty would increase should we have done it on the 2nd and the 3rd day of the camp which happened to be rainy.

Rock-climbing is deceivingly-easy. You would only realise its difficulty when you try it out yourself. Most of us breezed through the first half of it before the action of pulling yourself up took its toll on our arms. To make matters worse, there wasn't an obvious way for us to get up to the last tenth of the wall, so most of us ended up getting stuck at the 9th part of the wall and had to give up eventually.

Jetty Jump is also another activity that sounded deceivingly-easy. The name suggests that you have to jump down from the jetty. Literally. Nothing wrong about it, just that by the look of the name "Jetty Jump", one would not anticipate that there would be a 2.5 metre scaffold on the jetty for us to climb onto and dive into the water, which by the way, is home to corals and jellyfishs (which we happened to spot one during Jetty Jump).

It is longer than expected for gravity to pull you down 2.5 metres by the way. This is called the Theory of Relativity I suppose. On-lookers might think that it would only take a quarter of a second for you to reach the sea since gravity is at about 9.8m/s, but to the one that's diving into the water, a fraction of second is like eons. The person jumping down is "suffering", not you, that's why time passes so slowly for that person.

Abseiling was easy. Not at all terrifying. Only that the wall which you had support on is slippery due to the drizzle.

The scariness of "Leap of Faith" is probably on par with Jetty Jump. We have to ascend about 6 metres up a wooden pole, balance ourselves up there and leap forward to grab a trapezehanging down in front of you. Sounds simple? The real challenge comes in when you are about to take that leap. That's why they called it the "Leap of Faith" -- you've gotta have faith with your harness and whatever safety devices the instructors put onto you.

Once you have faith with the safety devices, all the other tasks that invovled heights can be easily overcomed like weak Vand er Waals forces.

Those burnt hot dogs, uncooked potatoes and extremely-spicy heavily-peppered onions aside that we made during the outdoor cooking on the first night aside, meals weren't as bad as expected. In fact, lemon fish and black pepper chicken were part of the menu for our lunches.

Lodging was terrible though, albeit we have no one else to blame except ourselves, for it is our responsibility to pitch out tents correctly to prevent dilapidation due to the heavy rains.

Toilets there were badly maintained. Not our fault. On the last night, the storm literally turned the Gents' into a haunted house (lookalike). The heavy rain forced all the insects out of their natural habitats and reside in the toilet. The following description may be nauseating:

The entrance of the toilet (meaning the walls, floors and ceiling) was covered (fully)and infested with unidentified flies. Seems like a crossbreed between a wasp and a housefly. Walked in further you can spot moths lying sliently next to the urinals. They seem like they are going to pounce on our family's jewels without warning on unsuspecting victims. Luckily I was suspicious of their behaviour and kept a close eye on them while peeing. Next, as I washed my hands in the basin, I see an earthworm slitherring across the porcelain basin right before my very eyes.

Eeeww...

I guess I should leave some events for the rest to cover. That's about all from me. Wait till you hear from the rest! Bloop bloop!
