CLass Tee |
I am hereby urging everyone to contribute ideas to the class tee. It's ok if you are not confident of your drawing skills or aesthetic techniques. Just contribute the ideas and suggestions so that the final class tee is a work of the class as a whole. Plus, we should get this over and done with. And S-CO, this is a great time for you to be in action. Please actively contribute, before school get really busy and we will have no time to get this done. |

Stand Up! Speak Up! |
I was struggling whether to post it on my own blog or on the class blog, but eventually I decided that I should post it here so that all of us can, together, discuss about this problem and seek a solution.
The class is far too quiet.
It is quiet during GP lesson and during PW lesson. I only specify these two lessons because these are the only lessons in which the teachers attempt to stir up some discussion amongst us.
Of course we all know very well that the teachers had failed.
But I do not blame them for the failure.
Because we are the ones who refuse to speak up.
I don't know if this is a common sight in your previous schools/classes, but as far as I can remember, I certainly enjoyed English lessons back in secodnary school. The people were lively and they always generate a lot of ideas for discussion and pose a lot of (in-depth) questions to the presentors with regards to their presentation.
Of course, those who have been in the same system as I had been through for my 4 years in Chinese High would know that there's this "Invisible Hand" called Oral Participation (OP) that is responsible for creating all the discussions.
But hey, at least we did open our mouths and talk! We ought to give the system some credit.
Of course, it would be pathetic to implement this system again at JC level just to "force" students to talk, else they shall lose points for their overall grade. Afterall, we are 17 years-old already.
But the thing is, right now without such system, we ain't doing the talking anymore. Everytime it's the same few guys who are willing to let their voices be heard, namely Marcus, Chin Kiat, and to some extent, Yan Min and me.
We can't be the ones to respond to the teachers' questions forever. As far as I can see now, Marcus has ran out of ideas.
I hereby appeal to all 6C people to be more proactive and spontaneous during lessons, especially GP and PW lessons. I know many of you find these two lessons boring, or find that the teachers suck, cannot make it (cmi) ... etc. but to quote from Ong CG, our CLL lecturer,
"In JC, some of the tutors you get just can't teach, CMI... Such situation also happen at tertiary level. But this is JC level, you need to do all the self-study that you need. You need to be responsible for your own learning. You cannot depend on your teachers anymore."
Indeed. The lesson can be an interesting one if we choose to make it interesting. Just like Campus Superstar, the techer, like the judges, only controls 30% of the lessons' fate. The remaining 70% lies in our hands, or in this case, in our mouths.
I guess up to here, I have made my point clear. I hope that all of you can do some soul-searching and self-reflection. Nothing against all of you, I just seek your co-operation and make our lessons more enjoyable and more lively. It's for our own benefit at the end of the day. =) |

Math Olympiad! Sign up! cheaper than AMC! haha! |
Are you interested in displaying your ingenuity and mathematical problem solving ability, and in the process, having a chance to bring honour to school as well as great satisfaction to yourself? If your answer is a resounding yes, then why not participate in the 2006 SMO?
Registration for the SMO will start from 3rd April (Monday) to 7th April (Friday). Registration fee is SGD8.00. Registration has to be done IN PERSON within the time frame stated above. This is so partly because we will LOAN you an A4 size past year SMO book to practise and have a feel of the type of questions you will be engaging in the competition. Look for Mr Lau HS (Math Dept) to register (remember to bring the EXACT registration fee!)
Those in the current MOP classes (with at most one yellow box to your name) will be automatically included in the registration for the 2006 SMO. You DO NOT NEED to pay!
More about the 2006 SMO: - The competition is only for full-time students who have not received any tertiary education on a full-time basis. - Our school will enter ONLY for the Open Section (no age limit) - Date of competition is 31 May 2006 - Time: 9.30 am - 12.00 noon - Venue: School or NUS (to be decided) - The competition actually has two rounds (and we are registering for Round 1 only) Round 1: 2.5 hour written paper consisting of short questions (which is what you will be sitting for). Special Round: at a later date by invitation only. It is a 4.5 hour written paper requiring full- length solutions. - The topics covered by the questions normally lie within the curriculum of a pre-u education. - Based on the first round results, silver/bronze/honourable mention certificates will be awarded to the students who meet the set criteria that are dependent on the level of difficulty of the competition. Only participants invited for the Special Round will be considered for the award of Gold certificates, which will take into consideration results of the 1st Round and Special Round. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all other participants.
For any enquiries, you may approach the math dept or Mr Lau HS.... You can have more info about the competition and past years' results at the following web address: http://sms.math.nus.edu.sg/competitions/CompetitionHomePage.aspx
Thanks! And dun forget to register if you find you have what it takes...... |

L-CO Matters |
After a luicd disscussion by the L-commitee, we have came up with 4 initiatives Introduction For the benfit of newcomers, L-CO is a band of people dedicated to entertainment of the citizens of the 06S6City. Current Members include: Lan Guan, Lan Fang, Lian Joo, Lu Yang. The L-CO leading in the forefront of lameness and laziness shall let you learn the lawful and legal way to go beyond your limits in life to achieve uncontrollable laughter
Initiative 1: The Invitation We have decided that instead of the stringent prerequisites that made the commitee too exclusive, the prerequisites have changed to: "as long as you are willing to join, and other members have no objections". Therefore we hope that with such an initiative, 06SCitizens could take a more active role in participating in some of the lamest actitvies in the class.
Initiative 2: The Pooling of Resources As I have mentioned during the GP presentation on CT (culture and tradition, not civils tutorial), I am willing to put the ppt onto the class blog, however I just realisied that I cannot upload the ppt onto the class blog, does anyone know of any website that can allow me to upload the ppt and the class could download from that website? For now, if any one of you is interested in having a copy of the ppt, you can wait til I am online in MSN then notify me and I will send a copy of it through the MSN (the ppt is 24.8 mb, way too big to be send via e-mail, though if you want to me to send via e-mail, I can try) Another thing is I know some of us out there will prepare notes for tests and quizes, especially Marcus and Chin Kiat, I was thinking that perhaps Marcus and Chin Kiat will be willing to share the notes. Sometimes I will prepare my own notes too, so if any of you 06S6Citizens want notes, you can notify us via the class blog, and if any one got prepare notes, they can try to send it to you.
Initiative 3: The L-Weekly We have also decided to come up with a L-Weekly that will consist of an e-mail full of cold jokes that will be send to your mailbox weekly, anyone who is interested to receive it can notify us via the class blog, and we are not to be held responsible if the L-Weekly is to be stopped due to poor response or due to the busy schedue of the L-CO members
Initiative 4: The Q n A Another of our initiatives is to let 06S6Citzens post questions about parts that they do not understand in the Lectures or tutorials onto the class blog or if you prefer privacy you can e-mail us. We will try to provide the solutions with as detailed an explaination as possible, for those on the class blog, maybe other 06S6citzens who know the answers they can help too (so better as chin kiat and marcus to visit the class blog often)
We, the L-CO, hope and wish you will have a pleasant time with us, please enjoy your stay at 06S6City, and we will try to make your stay as unforgetable and as lame as possible. So keep a look out for more initatives of the L-CO, your lameness undefined |

H2 Maths Applet |
Initially I didn't want to share this website with anyone, but somehow i feel rather selfless today, so voila! Here is the link to it!
This website, created by a Math lecturer from Catholic Junior College, contains very very useful applets on topics covered in the H2 Maths syllabus.
If you have problems or difficulties in understanding any concepts, you can make use of the applets to help you.
Alternatively, you can use the applets as "calculators" to help you solve problems like integration, differentiation, inequalities, graphic transformation... etc.
There is even an applet for permutation and combination.
And I mean it, they are VERY VERY USEFUL.
Sigh, suddenly I regret sharing this.. hahahaha, now more people will score their As for Maths! *Stressed* |

Support Chee Yang Campaign |
On the 2nd of April, Sunday, it would be the GRAND FINALS of CAMPUS SUPERSTAR!!!
Mediacorp will be setting up outdoor studios at the four grand finalists' schools, including one at College. The competition will take place live that night at Mediacorp's studios and every now and then during the show, they will film the student supporters in schools and broadcast it. (If you've watched Survivor Reunion Shows before, you will know what I mean)
The format of the show would be as follows:
The four finalists will battle it out during part one of the show, in which each of them will be performing 2 songs, of which one is their choice and the other song that they have to sing is not chosen by themselves.
AFter that, 2 of the contestants will be eliminated (somehow I do not know), and the final 2 will battle it out further during PArt 2 of the show for the prestigious title of Singapore's First-ever "Campus SuperStar" in history!
**************************************
Attendance is strictly optional, but highly encouraged. =) If you are interested, do come down on that day to give your support. but most importantly, DON'T FORGET TO CAST YOUR VOTES!!!
Note that I've written the plural form for "vote", and that the letter "S" at the end of "VOTES" is emphasised by capitalised and bolded. So, cast more than 1 vote, okay?
Even if you are not attending, VOTE NEVERTHELESS!!!
**************************************
Each vote costs 60 cents. You may wish to cast your votes through dialling the hotline or via SMS.
Alternatively, if you do not want to let your parents know that you have been "wasting money" on voting lest they start to ground you or deduct your pocket money, you may wish to employ my service of helping you to cast the votes. Just remember to pay me the money after that. |

Canteen |
I am baffled by what most of the students have been saying.
"Hwa Chong canteen sucks. Chinese High canteen is better."
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!!?!? WTF? WTH?
Are those who made such remarks sane?
I beg to differ from their opinion. I think that Chinese High canteen is horrible, terrible, incorrigible.
We have 3 stalls selling mixed vegetables rice.
3 STALLS!!! CAN'T WE HAVE MORE VARIETY??? Like a stall selling Japanese food, perhaps? At least we have Yong Tau Foo, Western food and Malay food, but the last two listed have rice dishes on their menu.
Even the previous noodle stall (which sucks in terms of taste and hygiene) had no choice but also to, ironically, offer rice dishes on their menu.
Apparently Chinese High people are addicted to rice.
Every corner of Chinese High canteen you go, you will see rice.
Rice, rice and more rice.
Sianz.
And the rice dishes available in Chinese High canteen aren't particularly tasty.
Which is why I was delighted and relieved to see that Hwa Chong's canteen offer a wider ranger of variety.
At least I get to eat laksa, a dish that did not exist in Chinese High canteen before, and not even now.
The nasi lemak from Hwa Chong's Malay stall is like 13927503215986329086109 times better than that from Chinese High's Malay stall, albeit it seems that the Hwa Chong's Malay stall has not been selling that frequently. (Rather, I have been seeing "Nasi Lemak set" appearing on the Western Food stall's menu.)
And Hwa Chong's laksa is terrific! Even without my usual extra ladle of chilli, the laksa still tastes so good, and so spicy.
And we have Tau Huay here! And Japanese food (though I won't exactly recommend it). And Indian food!
"Multi racial, we study together, for knowledge we wish to attain. Many races we shall gather, each day to achieve its aim..."
In a nutshell, Hwa Chong canteen rocks! Chinese High canteen sucks. I am so glad that I am now released from all the sufferings that i have been enduring for 4 years. |

鱼片米粉 |
Yan Min, this is how you should address your unidentified dish that entered your buccal cavity, down your oesophagus and finally into your stomach to curb your hunger pangs this evening.
To be exact, since the fishes in your bowl are fried, it should be called “炸鱼片米粉”.
“鱼片米粉”is almost the same dish, except that the fishes in it are not fried, but rather, sliced and boiled. |

West Coast |
as usual my job as meepok uncle is to report all the juicy gossips that we have done so far...
for today, we have decided to go to west coast for a picnic outing. thanks to yue kai for suggesting an outing, and shiyan and yu yin, for taking on the arduous task of contacting everyone singly just so that we can enjoy a pleasant time together, to see each other once again... yes, this brings back memories, esp of the time when i would be alone, calling up classmates so they could come out for fun and i sounded like i was begging...
anyway, this is not to be mentioned again. thanks so much to them for taking on this "sai gang" which no one would seriously like to do, coz it is really troublesome. kudos to them!!! what's worst, yu yin and yue kai have been down with flu and i know that yu yin more than anyone else, would be willing to lay down her life just so to be with us. yes, exaggerating, but it aptly and explicitly describes her character. well adults have the final say... so get well soon!!!
ya, me am so boring and talkative already...
me and marcus are so early today, argh, but lucky i was not late. chee jia was second and the others came streaming in not long after. while waiting, we formed a congregation, a circle of socialism, to relive our friendship, to endow onto it more warmth and power of love. ya, we got to socialise with the newcomers as well, at least got to bitch a little with the help of terence bitch. at least our class is cheena as usual and it has been a very proud word that i have adored, that i have integrated into part of my soul...
later, we made a trip to west coast. gosh, no water, all industrial and everyone were segregated to their own groups to play. haha, i played chapteh and volleyball with simin and jiawei and junquan and marcus, and it was quite boring. so we decided to fly kite, and somehow, it refused to fly and was reduced to a pile of toilet paper, as i call it. ya, we did some other stuffs and i was stupid enough not to wear shoes and thanks lor... my foot thick skinned enough...
it was regretful that they had to leave early. circumstances are overbearing, so i guess not their fault. take one step at a time. ya, then we got so tired after they went off and sat down for a real picnic. did a little talking, did a little complaining about how boring it was, went to mutilate the kite further, before everyone played an united game of ultimate frisbee, after much taunting from me and da jie and her seduction. haha, adding salt and sesame oil, just to make it juicier. ya, we played for quite a long time, and my group won!!! yay, da jie boohoo...
before that, we actually played frisbee in a merry-go-round fashion with terence phay and ben and shawn kicking the ball around in the circle. haha, super intwesting to multi-task, unlike tubby goon and ernie!!!
eventually, we were drained and did a lot of photo taking. come to think of it, no group photos, only scandals and candid camera. we got to enjoy a sunset together, which was real touching, and sat down to talk like for so long. even decided to have dinner at the exact spot we sat at, but at 8 we decided to go for a real dinner anyway. ya, we were reluctant to leave and went to JEC. did quite a fair bit of counselling on the bus, and because i was not around when the others were inundated with mixed emotions, i guess i was the only lucky one. as terence said, ignorance is bliss. i seriously hate myself for feeling nothing, though it really pains me when i talked to everyone else and heard their sorrows. well, no one is spared from the massacre so take it in its own stride...
went for a dinner at jec food court. yummy, fried fish with noodles in milk is damn nice, however u call it in chinese. cannot translate. ya, ben as usual in his food bonanza mood, stuffing himself to grow taller again. mwahaha!!! ok, very guo fen here, but ya, it was fun looking at everyone eating and talking and joking just like in the school canteen. this is a memory bid goodbye to me since last month. ya, terence heng tried to rape, no i mean fondle, ahhh dunno how to put it nicely. ya, victimize benjamin... ahh the right word. one of his usual gimmicks but done in west coast of course. ya, everyone was so tired by then, and i dunno what to do lor. marcus and i alighted first and it was quite sad, didn't get to talk to them long enough, but i guess there is still monday.
THANKS to marcus, my life is saved! thanks again.
this outing has been so successful, though disorganized initially. it is the messiness which really brings us together. make it organized, it feels like school and we have no say. to play together, shout together, scream and bitch together, and be tired eventually knowing we have each other in company... this will be the greatest treasures we will keep secure in our minds, for as long as it lasts. |

What a lot of food! |
Everytime I will fail to resist the appeal brought about by Seoul Garden's menu placed just outside the restaurant, and time and time again I would walk out of the restaurant vowing never to step into the restaurant again, not even for ice cream or for ice lemon tea, simply because I always stuff myself with so much food during each visist just to make my visit worth the $15+.
Now, there's another restaurant that I should include in my blacklist -- Kenny Roger's
Attempting to finish a plate of Kenny's Favourite (consisting of half a roasted chicken, which honestly speaking, tastes no different from what you could buy from Cold Storage), two sides of Italian Green Beans and Macaroni and Cheese, and a Kenny's muffin feels like this Roadblock task featured in The Amazing Race Season 7, in which about 5 to 6 teams gave up on, including guys of a big built.
I figured that I might have denied approximately 1/3 of my half-chicken a chance to undergo peristalsis within my intestines.
I felt an enormous sense of guilt when I abandoned those meat. Images of poor, skinny African kids starving flashed across my mind. But the demon in my head successfully reassured me that I was not at fault. Oh well. I just added some points to my "Bad Karma".
I should have ordered the Grilled Fish, which i ususally would in the past whenever I dine at Kenny Roger's. Ironically, their grilled fish taste better.
In any case, I had fun during JTS. |

as i was saying, 2 classes of wonderful people arranged to meet at City Hall, for a sumptuous dinner at Kenny Rogers. Well, i arrived early like dunno what to do, so i went for a quick game of pool at marina square, ok more like joining yuekai and gang. haha, it was real fun, though i sucked at it.
anyway, it was around 530 pm or 6 when we finally got everyone to be there. it was quite a pity that some of our seniors and our new friends couldn't make it to the dinner, but otherwise, it was real fun. for me, it felt really homely, to be reunited with my friends after 3 whole weeks of absence from school. well, our relations runs deep eh, haha and ya, sums it all. nice. nothing much to talk about the food, only that we shared the food and i normally go to food courts. haha. once in a while is ok...
After which, we celebrated Haining's birthday. yes! he IS our best class councillor ever, and it was with his help that all of us are so united together. haha, we got him a nice birthday cake, all thanks to yuekai and her group of competent organizers, and haha, video-ed a small clip of the process. it was very touching, since everyone was singing at the top of their voices, while everyone looked at us, awed and giving their well wishes to Haining. haha, i can see from their eyes!
ya, we proceeded outside to enjoy some fresh air. ya, play truth or dare and it was kinda boring since everyone was quite tired already. ya, too many ppl to handle and so we juz talked and maybe slacked sround a little. it was quite disoriented, and our new friends and even me, felt very bored. at least, we did one dare like ass smacking or maybe push-ups but that was all. after which juz passed around some sparkling juice and jolly shandy.
i guess the only fun started with the rest of us left. we went for that infamous night bowling all the way until 11 lei! even chin kiat joined us, haha! ya, yu yin was the ultimate straight bowler and gosh, it was damn scary. i got quite good reults for my second, OMG we played 2 games. wa liew, wallet pok liaoz. we really got togther well for that part...
gosh, i am looking forward to school again. well, perhaps not for the tests and assignments. and to jiawei whom we saw at Mac and marina square, why never come? haiz, nvm, i guess our class will be super nice! hope our class will be super bitchy and sporty as usual!!! haha... |

Banquet |
For all these time that i wasn't around in class, i seemed to have missed out on a lot. In fact, i really missed everyone in class, and this comes from the deepest dwells in my heart, where the most "heartfelt" emotions even in the heart can be kept. ya, it is stored, packaged and not chucked to one side...
well, three weeks of not going to school doesn't necessarily mean total isolation for me. Instead, my desperate attempts to reach the class people has given me new insights, bringing me into a whole new realm, of understanding them better. yes, all the late night conversations over the phone, gluing the ear piece to my little ear just to immerse in those familiar voices which have taken a break from my life for so long.
with the coming of this week, it is evident that a lot has happened. many have broken down at the news that really struck us. a cleave forcefully etched between us, separating us. fear not, because that cleath goes only to polish us, it goes only to strengthen us emotionally. as the saying goes, we would really cherish what we have only when we lose them. well, we thought we would lose each other, but perhaps, we are only assigned to different parts of the school, to exemplify the family warmth of 6C to the classes which are so much in need of this unforseen love.
also, the chinese saying that goes about banquets being the sole agent for everyone to leave, well, it was quite crappy. for us, the banquet is just too big to finish, and it gets bigger by the day. haha, from the day the new 6C sexy hunks and babes decided to bunk in onto this tiny mattress called 6C. the dinner table has grown larger. make it a table for 26+9, which would ultimately become 35. yes, i would really hope the underlying meaning sticks out.
in fact, as much as i am eager to meet everyone in class, i am as nervous to meet our new friends. for me, i will lose out to the rest of the class, not fair! not in studies, but because i have been discounted two days from seeing them.
now coming to talk a little about me. from my survey, everyone seemed to miss me a great deal. i guess it was only because i took such a long mc. as for my constant winter blasts, i can only say that they are That cold and not THAT cold. while the expectations of me are heightened, i can only say that i am only me and mee have not changed. i am still your neighbourhood meepok uncle, aspiring to be a good chef but never cleaning up my mess. so people, dry your tears, coz monday will be a mega bonanza. well, u can tear, if u think kenny rogers has no salt for u to sprinkle onto that is...
for the ultimately cold jokes, i am not sure if i can come up with them right now, but at least, it was fun talking to everyone once again. for that someone i talked to last night, please don't be dismayed. 6C is a forever shackles that u can never shake off. do not let it tie your heart, learn to let go a LITTLE, and u will encounter new horizons. hmm, wonder if it will be nicer to see the horizon at the equator or hawaii? damn, hawaii is famous for only its pizza and grass shoots. ok nvm, i am digressing, for the sole reason that i have run out of topics le!!! someone save me, remember to put hot pads around the life buoy. ooo ouch alamak!!! thats all folks and...

Mixed |
Mixed feelings huh, many people should be experiencing it too..
As time goes by, nothing remains unchanged. The laughter we share, the sadness and sorrows we experienced, the happiness that we feel, and many other activities we have gone through.
I am now listening Sadness And Sorrow by Toshiro Masuda. A very sad music.. makes my eyes red.. ya it is very hard to accept the fact that some of us are leaving the class. There is no words that can express how grateful I am to the class, for providing me with this opportunity to know so many of our friendly classmates. I would never thought myself participating so actively in class activities, being an introvert myself. No words can show how I dread some of you guys to leave.. but the least we can do is wishing you all the best in the new classes, if you face any difficulties, remember, our class bench is always there for you.
As time goes by... actually many things remains unchanged... the laughter we shared... the difficulties we pulled through... the happiness of achievements... and many other activities we have enjoyed as a class...
. .. Nevertheless... .... .....
The history of 06S6C will forever unchanged. The memories of January to March together as a class will never fade, the history, the memories, the experience... invaluable.. treasure them.
Be sure to visit us often, we will miss you :'( |

shark's fin |
In the same situation as KiaHui.
Ever since I come to Singapore in 1998, life has never been easy. Being a more chinese-background family, catching up in English is really very difficult. I still remember that I think I only know A is for apple B is for boy that kind of english...
I am never attached to any class before I come to HCI. primary school, 3 years, i rarely contact them now. Secondary school, 4 years, apart from my own group of close friends, the rest are like hi-bye, and the most is talk a bit. Never feel attached to my classes.
I am never the english-kind of people. I know there are some classes who speak almost 99% in English. In such environment i can't survive. Fortunately 6C is the best class I have ever had. Everyone is very friendly, no dao-ing people (the most dao is ben who is not dao at all, :D that is a compliment ok?) Ya, really, I enjoy the atmosphere of the class. I want to thank some people here.
Yue Kai
For including everyone in the class whenever there is activity. Some classes form their own groups and they couldn't care less about others.. they just form their own cliques (big ones especially, abt 5-10 people). When you have your own cliques, you tend to forget the others.. fortunately we have the Kong! a friendly kong who always includes everyone in the class! Thank you for being so initiative in organizing activities!!
Yan Min
For making the chill going up our spines. His cold jokes can never fail freezing people! though he hasn't come for some time, we can never forget about his coldness and KOHness, cold arh.. also, he has organised many activities with the others too! taking the initiative and leading role.. that is just too great! Who says our class no leaders? :P there are many potential leaders!
Terence Heng
For bitching people around. your bitchings really make us the day! Just cant stop with the laughter and lameness sometimes, where is the dot? dot? dot? You want me french kiss you? hahaha, that is just so funny. Way to go terence, we will never forget about you and your bitchings! I doubt we can forget too :p
Yan Zhi + Chee Jia
Scandalous pair? lessons would have been boring without you! The blog would not be lively too without you, and less gossip for us :P shan't elaborate too much, thank you shawn and monroe, for sacrificing yourselves at the expanse of our enjoyment! :p (phrasing a bit weird..)
To the rest of the 6C classmates
Don't have time to name all, but EVERYONE is really very interesting and unique, I have enjoyed myself thoroughly these 2 months spent together. Part of my memory, it shan't fade. Little bits and pieces of the outing, stupid things we do, scandals, gossips, laughters, shall not be forgotten. We will never forget this class, and we are always called 6C, because it is us that makes what 6C is. No one else can make a similar class like us. We are unique, 6C is the solely and only, our class, it shall be forever known as the -- Sex And The 06S6City |
